RepoGuide

Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of RepoGuide, a tool that connects to your GitHub repositories and generates AI-assisted architecture explanations, learning paths, and risk assessments. By creating an account or using RepoGuide, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. Who can use RepoGuide

You must have a GitHub account and be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use RepoGuide. You're responsible for keeping your GitHub account secure — we authenticate you exclusively through GitHub OAuth and never see or store your GitHub password.

2. What RepoGuide does

RepoGuide reads metadata and key files from repositories you explicitly connect (file paths, directory structure, README, package manifests, and a bounded set of source files) to generate an architecture map, a learning path, risk factors, and answers to your questions — all through third-party AI providers (currently Groq and, as a fallback, OpenRouter). We do not use your repository content to train any AI model, ours or a third party's.

3. GitHub access

During sign-in, GitHub asks you to approve the scopes RepoGuide requests (currently read:user, user:email, and repo, so we can list and read both public and private repositories you choose to connect). RepoGuide only reads repository content to build its analysis — it never writes to, modifies, or deletes anything in your GitHub repositories. You can revoke this access at any time from your GitHub account's Applications settings, which immediately cuts off our access to new data.

4. Your content

You retain all rights to your repositories and their content. We store the analysis we generate (architecture maps, explanations, risk assessments) and limited repository metadata needed to keep that analysis useful, tied to your account. We do not store full copies of your source code. You can disconnect a repository or delete your account at any time from Settings, which removes this stored data.

5. AI-generated content

Architecture maps, risk assessments, explanations, and Guide answers are generated by AI models and may be incomplete, outdated, or simply wrong. Treat RepoGuide as a starting point for understanding a codebase, not as a substitute for reading the code, running tests, or your own engineering judgment — especially for anything related to security, correctness, or production risk.

6. Plans and billing

RepoGuide currently offers a Free plan with daily limits on repositories, analyses, AI messages, and file explanations, described on our Pricing page. Paid plans (Pro and Team) are shown for transparency but are not yet billable — if that changes, we'll update these Terms and the Pricing page before charging anyone, and pricing already in effect for existing subscribers won't change without notice.

7. Public sharing

You may generate a public, unguessable link to share a read-only view of an analysis. Anyone with that link can view it without signing in. You can revoke a share link at any time from the repository's page, which disables the link immediately — but you're responsible for what you choose to make public, including whether the underlying repository is one you have the right to share analysis about.

8. Acceptable use

Don't use RepoGuide to attempt to extract another user's data, abuse rate limits, reverse-engineer or scrape the service, or connect repositories you don't have the right to analyze. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this or that we reasonably believe are abusing the service or its AI providers.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

RepoGuide is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated analysis will be accurate. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, or for decisions made based on AI-generated content.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the product evolves. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do; continued use of RepoGuide after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
